9. What fabric do you use for your bags?
Our most popular bags are made from non woven polypropylene (NWPP), a relatively environmentally friendly plastic such as is used to produce the popular supermarket ³green bags². We also supply bags made from the natural fibres, cotton, canvas, & jute.

10. What are the pros and cons of non woven polypropylene?
NWPP is economical yet it is durable, water resistant, strong, recyclable, and can be easily printed. It also degrades more readily in the environment than many other plastics.

11. Are NWPP bags biodegradable or compostable?
No. They degrade into minute pieces of plastic but they are not biodegradable or compostable.

12. Which bag fabrics are best for the environment?
All commonly used materials have their advantages and disadvantages. NWPP is a product of the petrochemical industry and although it is not biodegradable or compostable it is not so environmentally hazardous as many other plastics since it does degrade into minute pieces of plastic.
Although it is recyclable, in practice very few bags are actually recycled. Whereas cotton or calico is a natural fibre which is biodegradable and compostable the growth of cotton does use considerable resources.
Unlined jute bags or jute bags with a fully biodegradable and compostable lining are the most environmentally friendly type of reusable bag.
